Also, the service ranks wouldn't match up.

This was on several other servers I was on. It worked for Commandos but was more confusing and annoying when individual battalion members were forced to have the RP names. Also the simple fact that people wanted to be referred by their own nicknames was a big factor.

nah nah nah leave those names for event characters if anything.

Leaders have the option of becoming the character attributed to their rank, but it's not going to be made a requirement. The important part is their rank and responsibility.
