I don't exactly know why the change was made and simple thirdperson (stp) was removed and the only option now is ots, however this change is extremely detrimental for many reasons. For one, the addon is simply worse overall, it has a delay on use which is not present in stp, the crosshair provided is both poor and non-dynamic unlike stp, you cannot alt-walk while in third person without slowing to a crawl, and it is the opposite of user friendly. This last point is especially important since new players who want to use a thirdperson option will almost surely have no clue how to both enable and configure the addon, while stp is not only much more well known, but built into the context menu with many customizable sliders for each of use, rather than the arbitrary values that you have to set via the console for ots.

Afaik, there were no issues with stp prior to CDX and both addons were available for players to choose between the one they most liked, but now, you are forced into the objectively worse option. I'm not calling for the removal of OTS, but simply a reversion to how it was previously, with the choice between both.

Idk why you aren’t able to alt walk as well as your crosshair isn’t dynamic. I’ve been using OTS for like years now and I’ve never had that issue. Even playing the event a couple days ago I was still able to do all of that

The new third person messes with my eyes so I don’t use it anymore

OTS likes to throw my view to the side when I'm in close quarters, and it leaves a blind spot on my left side due to it being over the shoulder. It fits with the CDX aesthetic better, but I strongly prefer STP in part because it doesn't have these issues and is far more customizable.

We removed STP because we didn’t need 2 different Third Person addons. OTS is much more customizable and dynamic compared to STP. For ALT walking, you need to level your camera with the players head and only use the cardinal directions, which is pretty annoying in all honesty. New players can simply ask for the third person bind and a few of the universal options that people use. I prefer OTS because of it’s customization and the fact that the crosshair isn’t bad by any means.

very good point . OTS is very customizable, and being able to switch your cam left and right to peak corners is fun as fuck

it was removed for optimization purposes, but re-adding STP or a similar system would be nice for those who don’t like OTS

Are the controls to customize it in the context menu, or are they console commands? I'm still not used to OTS, so I only have the command to toggle it on and off bound.

console commands, if you look in the guides channel in the discord Flare posted a base for some good settings, but you can play with those yourself. Its a little tedious tho
