Dreams of a Distant Meadow
A light breeze blew through the air, weaving in between each blade of grass, each flower pedal. The meadow illuminated as if it was god that shined down upon it. Yet with this overwhelmingly beauty present in his eyes, he had felt a quiet somberness in his chest. The gentle flowers moved around his each step, as if they were stepping aside, allowing him to reach the horizon. His focus was glued to the ground, watching the ever moving life brush and dance around his legs. Though he had gazed up to the horizon, seeing a silhouette of a woman. Even from this distance he could still feel her profoundly incandescent beauty. He couldn’t take his eyes off of her, the horizon, as he slowly made his way to her. That feeling of somberness only grew more as he moved closer. The inevitability of leaving her grace saddened him, yet they both knew it was the current of life. Like a river forcing sand down it’s rapids, he approached her. She turned to him with a smile. “Morgan!” She yelped out in joy.

“Cas.” He bowed his head as he spoke.

“Why’re you in uniform?” The smile she had, turned into a small frown. No, it had turned into concern.

“I-I’m being deployed for a small mission on Nar Shaddaa.”

“Must you go? You’ve only just come back.”

“I know, I know. But it shouldn’t be long until I’m back. Back here in this meadow.”

Her face slumped into a slight sadness as she turned her head away from him. Her eyes now staring longingly at the flowers that bloomed beneath them both. Cas bent down and plucked a deep red flower. She turned her attention back to Morgan with that same longing look. Cas extended her hand to him, and kept on darting her eyes to and from the flower and Morgan. He took the flower into his hand. The somberness became overwhelming. Morgan could feel tears starting to boil in eyes, trying to stay as solemn as he could be in front of her. But something deep down, something about her beauty wouldn’t allow him to stay strong in that instance. It’s as if this would be the last time they would both see each other. Tears started flowing from his eyes, blurring the face of Cas. All the sudden a gracious warmth wrapped around his body, a floating sensation tingled throughout. He wrapped his arms around Cas, holding as tight as he could in that moment. In that moment, only warmth he felt. The warmth of the breeze, the sun, the meadow, and the warmth of her. They stood on the horizon as silhouettes in that dream of a distant meadow.
