A Large tree sat in the middle of the courtyard, its flowers beginning to blossom with every passing day. Each day people passed by it, glancing at its beauty for a moment then going back about their day, each with a job to do and a place to be, except one man. With no job nor place to be, no family or friends to spend time with, he merely existed, watching the tree blossom and wither with each passing season. He sat there until the day he died, when beams of red light pierced the surface of the planet from orbiting stations, cracking the ground and scorching all life. He was not angry, nor sad, just… content. He had lived a long life for his kind, seeing all sorts of worlds and experiencing all types of things, from the affection and praise of a mentor to the devastation at the loss of his brothers. He lived a full life, with what time he was given. He died with a smile on his face, engulfed by a stream of fiery red plasma.
